NUUMMITE

Nuummite is a three-piece band from Prague, Czech Republic. We play an instrumental mixture of post rock, black metal and shoegaze with a drop of psychedelic music inspired by surreal and existential themes, where the (mostly) missing vocals offer various interpretation options. Our music keeps the typical meditative vibes of post-rock without its repetitiveness, incorporating more frequent changes and some groovy riffs.

The story begins in the fall of 2018, when the guitarist Marek (ex Errantes, ex Sukkhu) and the drummer Michal (Naurrakar, Sól, ex Errantes, ex Sukkhu) were doing some creative sessions in their rehearsal room. Although they used to play death and black metal before, the new songs were quite different. After a short time, they invited the bass player Lukáš (ex Errantes, ex Naurrakar) to play with them. Michal then named the newly formed band Nuummite.

In February 2019 the band released a two-track demo, where the trio outlined their future style. It is music without vocals, which blends dreamy post-rock soundscapes with shoegaze and black metal eruptions. Black metal elements will always be important, as no member of the band wants to deny his roots in extreme music.

Nuummite played a lot of concerts until the COVID-19 pandemic struck. The band used the concert gap caused by lockdown for the recording of their debut album Celestial Triarchy. It was recorded and mixed in the Riversound Studio, Prague, and it was sent for mastering to Enormous Door Mastering, which has been previously working also with Darkthrone, Poison Idea and Aura Noir.

After the loosening of the pandemic restrictions, the band played at the Metalgate Czech Death Fest and started planning more concerts. The album Celestial Triarchy came out on the 1st of September in collaboration with a British label, Trepanation Recordings, Slovakian distro Salto Mortale Music and Czech label Noise Mafia.

In 2022 Nuummite released two new singles. The first one called Doublethink came together with a fractal animated video made by Hungarian digital artist Ágnes Gundel. The second one, Můry, was done in collaboration with a guest singer, Martin Šindelář, who also participated on Celestial Triarchy. Another two singles, Bicycle Day and Insomnia, were released in 2023.
